Kyneton RSL Sub-Branch Receives Prestigious Award

The Kyneton RSL Sub-Branch was awarded the prestigious Victorian State RSL Licensed Sub-Branch of the Year award at the Victorian RSL Branch Hall of Fame Awards held at the Frankston RSL on Monday 28 October.   The Kyneton Sub-Branch won out against more than 50 other licensed sub-branches throughout Victoria.   The award recognises an individual Sub-Branch that has successfully promoted all aspects of the RSL, has developed and maintained a successful and viable commercial operation and sets an example for the Licensed Sub-Branch Network in Victoria.

Of particular note was support shown to veterans, our commemorative activities, membership growth and the quality of the operation of the Sub-Branch and services provided.   Our Welfare Office continues to provide vital support to our veterans assisting with DVA claims and providing home help to those in need, as well as conducting Camaraderie Nights and Veterans Catch Up afternoons.    Commemorative services for ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day, as well as other important days, both in Kyneton and the surrounding towns, are also a feature of the work of the Kyneton RSL.   In addition the Kyneton RSL supports many of the local schools and community organisations.

According to the President of Kyneton RSL, John Taubman, one of the main reasons for the success of the Sub-Branch has been due to the untiring efforts of the staff ably led by the General Manager, Rebecca Hemphill.   Without their loyalty and support, he said, the Sub-Branch would not be in the position it is in today.   To further enhance the reputation of the Sub-Branch, two staff members also received Achievement & Recognition Awards on the night.   Stalwart of 27 years service at the Kyneton RSL, Judy McIntyre, and Head Chef, Dylan Thomas were both recognised for their contributions.

Whilst enjoying the success of the Sub-Branch at the awards night, the Committee and Management of the Sub-Branch will not rest on its laurels but strive to improve in all areas of the Sub-Branch operations.

Secretary
